Updated: Jul 20, 2024

Since the ancient time, nature has been proven for its wonderful healing benefit, which is good for people's mental health, especially who have just recovered from depression and stress. And if you are a nature lover, you can make your way to Fort Canning Park, whose green atmosphere is enough for someone finding a healing place inside big and industrial city.

Fort Canning located in a large hill right inside the city centre. Climbing up onto the top of the hill is also a small test for your health, because not everyone can make their way to the top without taking some short break. My favourite place in this park is the Spice Garden, with various species of spices from around Asia, such as pandan leaves, pepper, and lemon balm. If you are interested in learning about spices, this is a right place for you. After watching the spice variety in the garden, you can visit Spice Gallery, with many samples of spices being displayed, and there is also a spice collecting process, which helps you learn about the hard work of collecting different types of spices, which relies so much on weather condition. Besides Spice Garden is an area full of flowers and decoration trees, which is called Artisan's Garden. Because of its name, this area provides an area full of artistic vibes, with which you can have plenty of gorgeous photos without caring much about posing and setting up your camera.

Fort Canning Park is not only famous for its scenic view, but also become popular as a great place to learn about ancient Singapore. On your way walk, you might have chance crossing some ancient tombs, or historical relics that I'm sure you cannot pass without taking a look. By the end of the park, you can also encounter Fort Canning Gallery, with many ancient objects are on display, such as ceramics, construction materials, and various soil sample collected from different area around the hill. Before entering the Brishtish-style Fort Gate, which was once used during the World War II with beach-facing side to protect Singapore from seaborne attack, as well as to provide full refuge for Singapore's European population in the event of local unrest, you will encounter a large gun, with the primitive purpose of protecting Singapore from the enemy's attack. These ancient traits make the park become more attractive to visitors coming from both inside and outside the country.

Fort Canning Park is an ideal place for people who want to get away from stressful life and come back to the most primitive way of healing: walking between lines of trees, listening to the bird singing, feeling the wind wandering in the skin, and bathing under the sunlight. Therefore, my suggestion is that when entering this place, you should turn off your mobile phone and all electric devices, and thinking about nothing but the sunlight, the wind and the bird's sound. By doing that, I'm sure no one will decline the inviting sound of nature.
