Exploring Bat Trang Ceramic Museum: Preserving the Spirit of the Ancient Village Through Architecture

Bat Trang Ceramic Museum serves to preserve and advance Bat Trang Ceramic Village, and it has now become a popular check-in spot for young people.

Situated in Bat Trang Village, approximately 19km from Hanoi's center, it requires only about a 40-minute drive. The museum was established by Ms. Ha Thi Vinh, a 15th-generation member of a longstanding ceramic-making family, with the aim of honoring the crafts of her hometown. This location offers a range of services, including homestay, a restaurant, exhibitions, and shopping.

Upon entering the museum, your attention is drawn to a unique architectural feature: a rotating table, an essential tool in ceramics production. This structure is crafted from Bat Trang's materials, such as mosaics, traditional ceramic bricks, and tiles, to create a realistic color palette. It is also recognized as one of the top 24 most aesthetically pleasing architectural designs globally. Within the square, there are shops showcasing the village artisans' most exquisite creations.

The second floor houses a museum that showcases the village's development over time, while the third floor serves as a contemporary art center featuring light sculpture art. Additionally, there is a free tour that guides you through various artworks and helps you learn about Vietnamese history in this region.

If you feel tired after touring the museum, you can visit the restaurant and cafe on the 4th floor. There, you can enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine in a cozy setting.

Afterward, you can head to the 5th floor to savor a variety of teas in a serene, refreshing, and stunning environment. There's also a tree where you can write your wishes and hang them. This spot is perfect for watching the sunset with your loved one.

If you're interested in creating a ceramic product for yourself, head to the G floor, where there's a workshop for custom-made ceramic items with artisans from the village.
