Located in the center of Little India- a famous destination that is considered to be India inside Singapore, Indian Heritage Center contains everything that is enough to fulfill the desired knowledge of a culture-lover.
India is famous for its unique culture, and the wide variety of spices that is considered to be one of the most precious goods in the country. Indian culture has become famous around the world, especially in Asia, due to the dense population of the Indian community, as well as the widespread of Bollywood, which makes the country becomes the second largest film industry in the world. However, for some people, like me, India is still a mysterious country with unique culture that needs to be explored. That is the reason for me to come here- Indian Heritage Center- to uncover the mysterious culture that always stays in my curiousity.

When I came here on 13 April 2024, there is a celebration of Indian New Year happening in the museum, with dancers performing the traditional dance of India, as well as ticketed workshops and activities that were being conducted on the second floor, so only galleries on the third and fourth floors are available and can be reached by the lift. However, because of the celebration of Indian New Year, the ticket was free for all visitors, which was, actually, my favourite part of visiting the museum today.
On the third floor, there are collections of Indian culture in the 19th- 20th century and during the war in Singapore. Those include collection of daily objects used by famous Indian people in Singapore, and in other room, there are descriptions and objects about daily life of different status in India and Singapore, from traders, artists to prisoners and farmers. At the end of this room is the bricks and a skillfully-crafted wall taken from famous temples in India and surrounding place.

The fourth floor contains collections of India in the modern time. This floor mostly contains objects about religious life of Indian people, and there is also a room showing a documentary about life of Indian pioneers in Singapore.

After visiting the museum, you can walk to appreciate the beauty of the rainbow house, named the Former house of Tan Teng Niah. This is an Instagramable corner for colour-lovers, where I'm sure, you will get some memorable photos there.
